Art in the Heart of Umbria - From 22 April to 1 May 2023, at Umbriafiere, Bastia Umbra
After a three-year absence of the Assisi National Antiques Exhibition due to the health emergency, Umbriafiere will once again host this historic event, which will be presented to the public with a renewed name, image and organizational structure. AMAB - Assisi Art and Antiques Exhibition Bastia Umbra is the new name of the event, which will take place from 22 April to 1 May 2023 in Bastia Umbra (PG), in the Umbriafiere pavilions, just a few kilometers from Assisi.
Seventy prestigious galleries of ancient, modern and contemporary art will be the protagonists of the 48th edition, creating an ideal link between modernity and tradition across as many stands set up in completely renewed exhibition spaces. The Exhibition will also include a section dedicated to contemporary art. Artists Gabriella Barbonari, Mauro Bordini, Stefano Chiacchella, Stefania Rosichetti and Saverio Spoldi, gathered in the stand "Prospettive Umbre d'autore", will pay tribute to Perugino with "Pietro Vannucci, his places and his skies", in a performance that will see them painting at a height of three meters on secured platforms. The work will be completed by 1 May, the closing day of AMAB. The canvases will be fixed to metal towers, giving the artistic action great visual impact.

The 500th anniversary of the death of Pietro di Cristoforo Vannucci, better known as Perugino, one of the greatest and most celebrated Umbrian artists (Citta della Pieve 1448 - Fontignano 1523), will not go unnoticed. A conference entitled "Perugino 500" will be dedicated to the divine painter, with speakers Alessandro Delpriori, Researcher in Modern Art History at the University of Camerino, and Veruska Picchiarelli of the National Gallery of Umbria. AMAB is organizing the event with the Municipality of Bastia Umbra on Wednesday, 26 April at 3 p.m., starting with a visit to two churches in Bastia that preserve works from the Perugian school, followed by a visit to the renewed National Gallery of Umbria to admire "The Best Master in Italy. Perugino in His Time", the exhibition scheduled in Perugia from 4 March to 11 June 2023.
Within and alongside the AMAB 2023 exhibition route, a space dedicated to Umbrian regional excellence will be set up in collaboration with Cantina Arnaldo Caprai, Olio Monini, Urbani Tartufi and Gelateria Crispini, offering visitors the chance to discover the food, wine and cultural essence of the territory. The return of this art and antiques event in its new AMAB format will make an important contribution to expanding the cultural offer of a city of art such as Assisi, resuming the fundamental work of enhancing the historical, artistic, tourist and economic heritage of the region and of the Assisi-Bastia Umbra area in particular, establishing a dialogue with a culturally informed audience while also aiming to reach younger generations.
